Portfolio of Works

After spending six years dedicated to nothing but the Mood Lights series, I've learned that from time to time it's healthy to take a break. This collection will be where I'll gather those "breaks" - stand-alone paintings to keep me sane while I hack away at the next major series.

This series began in 2015 as a simple idea for a themed show of roughly twenty works, to which I would dedicate two years. I wanted to explore the strange and wonderful behaviors of light and color, and the endless range of emotional response they elicit from myself and my muses as well as from the viewer. It was a nice, sane plan...and then I must say things rather got away from me. Six years and fifty works later, Mood Lights has finally come to an end...for now.

This collection is a wandering menagerie of feminine beauty, which is its only prevalent theme. For many years I approached each work on its own - a stand alone piece of art belonging to no greater whole than the simple fact that I painted it. I think of these years as a time of broad exploration, much as a young traveler will see the world, excitedly hopping from one destination to the next, picking up knowledge and wisdom along the way but never setting down roots.
